Mycohaven is a 2D Virtual World set deep in Fiordland. Moss Isle is home to six different villages with focuses on the environment and sustainable practices. This project is based on the harvest and cooking village of Loamshire. The other villages focus on native bird conservation, textiles, construction, geothermal energy and waterways. Players are encouraged to explore and collaborate while discovering how they want to contribute to the ecosystem itself. Young people engage with the game both online and offline through the use of a figurine that allows access to the world as well as a small pedometer device that allows children to “forage” for in-game rewards. This project aims to exemplify the importance of post-digital imaginative play, holistic world-building and ecology.
