My project uses textiles and dress to explore the mutually nurturing and authoritative relationship between gardeners and gardens, using the theory of extended self as a model to understand this dynamic. I believe that the relationship between gardener and garden is living and evolving, akin to a parental one in aspects of control, intimate knowledge, and psychological soothing. I translated each of these concepts into my garments, referencing historical gardeners' dress.
