My practice has revolved around urban night-scenery in Wellington for years at this point. From the streaking colours and melting pools of light, coming across these made me stop in my tracks and soak in the aura of these beautiful spaces. As much as these are paintings of such candid moments in the rainy city, they are also my sensory experience in these areas. They imbue a unique atmosphere that is so intriguing, they have this sense of life in them, a visual and spatial language that couldn’t be translated into daytime.
