Rooted in Knowledge' is a biophilic library renovation that transforms the Wellington central library into a community study space, prioritising mental health and privacy.
The perspective of the private nook sections within the library. Designed to create private, intimate spaces for study, reading or relaxation.
At 1000 years old, the kauri tree insertion has overtaken and destroyed the structure of the library. Now inhabitable, the tree has become a part of the building.
The bookshelves act as dividers within the space, to create private areas without blocking light or views, as well as the functional aspect of housing books.
