Alexithymia Within Autism

Bachelor of Design with HonoursVisual Communication Design

Here is my final product, a book that offers support on identifying and communicating your emotions.
Here is my small book, The First Look Handbook, that offers discreet on-the-go insight about your emotions, giving you an opportunity to write out your thoughts and share them.
Here is the bag that both my books can be transported in, giving the opportunity to bring emotional tools with you wherever you are.
Here is one spread of my big book, 'Hidden In Plain Sight', where I display an emotion with abstract imagery, and how the emotion can manifest in the body and in daily context.

Can you identify your current emotion? Inability to do so could be due to alexithymia, often referred to as 'emotion blindness'. Even if you experience emotions strongly, you may struggle to identify them – or might not notice until they surpass an intensity threshold. Alexithymia is prevelant within the autistic community. I've created a tactile dictionary of emotions that is tailored for, but not exclusive to, autistic people with alexithymia.
